Psalm 118

#534 – September 30, 2007

This Psalm starts with giving thanks because God’s mercy endures forever. It was the last of a group of psalms sung by Israel during the Passover. While it had to do with the Passover in Egypt when God delivered Israel from bondage, evil and death, it also foretells of the deliverance God planned in our Lord Jesus Christ, who was the ultimate Passover lamb. We also have been spared because of Jesus’ sacrifice. (T. Burke)
