Joshua: Speak, Think, Do

#790 – September 23, 2012

A teaching on chapter one of Joshua, with the emphasis on the opening verses, in which God exhorts Joshua to be strong and courageous. We see in context that the courage required of Joshua was the courage to continue speaking, thinking and doing God’s Word.

In addition, the parallels between Joshua and the church are examined. Although Israel had already been given the land, still they had to appropriate it to themselves by acting upon God’s Word. Similarly, the many rights and benefits which God says already belong to the individual who is in Christ will only be manifested as we learn them and choose to believe them, even in the face of opposition.
