In this teaching of Philippians chapter three we see that in order to rejoice in my Lord he needs to be the focus of my heart and mind. Paul strongly warns the Philippians to beware of those teaching fleshly reliance (circumcision). He shows that as Christians we have no confidence in our flesh in our service to God, rather we serve via the spirit and boast only in Christ. Paul lists out all of his reasons that he could have to put confidence in his flesh and says they are dung compared to the surpassing value of Christ! Paul sets an example for us of what our pursuit should be as Christians. No matter how mature we are, we should always be seeking to know more fully our Lord and what he has done for us.
