God is love and just. The law showed man what a sinner he was and that he needed a redeemer. In Romans 3:25 God set forth His son as our “mercy seat”. God showed mercy to unworthy man by the completed work of Jesus Christ. And the “sins beforehand” in the O.T. were passed over because Jesus Christ would pay the ransom. So as they (O.T.) believed on Jesus Christ, righteousness was imputed to them. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was a triumph! It was vindication for those in the O.T. who believed on him and for those today that also believe on Jesus Christ. [Tom Burke]
