Joshua: Honoring God
#791 – September 30, 2012
This teaching continues from the previous week’s introduction and brings us further into the record of Joshua.
The incidents regarding Rahab and the stones taken for a memorial are touched upon, but the greater emphasis is placed on the actual crossing of the Jordan. From this record we learn that believing is not simply a matter of action, but of honoring God’s Word above the evidence of the senses.
The opening verses of chapter five are also examined, and we see again the honor given to God despite what logic might dictate. As we honor God in this unqualified manner, He will always keep us from harm. Our honoring Him allows Him in turn to honor us. [Tom Burke]
