King of Kings and Lord of Lords

The Old Testament speaks of a kingdom that would last forever. The prophet Nathan gives David a promise from God that a king would be raised up to sit on this throne. This is told to Mary by the angel, confirming that Jesus would be the king to sit on David’s throne, which is further confirmed by Peter on the day of Pentecost. However, as Jesus Christ explained to Pilate, his throne is not of this world. Our relationship with Jesus Christ, as the church and the Body of Christ, is not with him being our king, but our Lord. And our relationship with Jesus Christ as our Lord will also last forever. [Ken McCaw]
