Honor to Whom Honor is Due

#798 – November 18, 2012

Christians often exalt men and women who operate the power of God, as though this power were God’s “seal of approval” regarding the life, work, and doctrine of such people. We must remember that holy spirit is a gift bestowed on us in the new birth, not a reward for good works. To specially honor those who manifest that power is to misunderstand the nature of a gift. However, God does speak of showing honor and reverence toward individuals in the church. This teaching examines the circumstances under which such honor is not only allowed, but commanded.
